A State-of-the-Art Sci-Tech Hub Opens in Astana: New Horizons for Science and Technology

The Sci-Tech Hub is a next-generation educational centre that integrates science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) in an interdisciplinary format. Its grand opening took place on 8 October at the international school Haileybury Astana. The event was attended by the Minister of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan Zhuldys Suleimenova, the British Ambassador Sally Axworthy, and a number of other distinguished guests.

The new educational centre has been designed as a space for 286 students, combining laboratories, learning zones, and co-working areas to provide every pupil with opportunities to unlock their potential. The Hub features a robotics arena, flexible classrooms, interactive learning spaces, and exhibition halls.

“The centre opening today will contribute to the further development of Kazakhstani education in the fields of artificial intelligence, engineering, and robotics at a global level. I am delighted that teachers and students from across Kazakhstan will conduct lessons and laboratory experiments here. As you may know, at a recent international Olympiad, Kazakhstani students won two silver and one bronze medals. I am confident that thanks to this new centre, the number of such achievements will continue to grow,”
— said Zhuldyz Suleimenova, Minister of Education.

A particular point of pride for the centre is its mathematics, natural sciences, and robotics laboratories, all equipped to world-class standards. Here, students work with cutting-edge equipment, digital technologies, and real scientific challenges. The Hub also includes six specialised mathematics classrooms with interactive panels, tablets, and software for modelling, 3D visualisation, and data analysis, as well as mobile assembly stations, testing areas, and a mini-robotics arena for competitions and project demonstrations.

“The construction of the Sci-Tech Hub has become a landmark initiative for the Verny Capital group of companies. The project reflects our commitment to the social mission of business and our support for the development of Kazakhstani society. We will continue to invest systematically in educational infrastructure and in improving the quality of education in our country. For us, the Sci-Tech Hub is an investment in Kazakhstan’s future,”
— said Aidan Akanov, CEO of the Verny Capital group.

The 3,000-square-metre centre was built and fully equipped in record time — just 10 months. Constructed using high-quality materials, the building meets international standards. The project was implemented with the support of Verny Capital, at a total cost of 3.4 billion KZT.

“We have placed special emphasis on the social mission of this project. The Sci-Tech Hub will host not only school and city events, but also international Olympiads and competitions open to talented children from across Kazakhstan and abroad. In this way, the centre will contribute to developing the country’s scientific potential and expanding opportunities for young researchers. As part of our scholarship programme, we also plan to attract more gifted students from different regions of Kazakhstan,”
— said Ian Hunt, Chair of the Board of Governors at Haileybury Astana.

In the future, the Sci-Tech Hub aims to establish partnerships with leading scientific and educational institutions around the world. Through such collaborations, students will be able to work on real-world challenges under expert supervision, building a solid foundation for their academic and professional success.
